I realised I have not reviewed any of other EXO's new songs despite how many wins they have achieved so far with "Wolf (You're The Beauty)". So here's a review on what I believe to be the best song in the album - the very reason why I fell so deeply into this fandom. The teaser explained it all, didn't it?
The teaser of this song was released on February 28th, 2012 in Kai's 21st debut video teaser. It managed to attract so much attention since a perfect dance routine was made for the first half of the song and Kai, being a perfect candidate, did the routine justice. The original song has been anticipated since then and now that it has been released, I have to admit I am very much satisfied.
The song opens with a piano solo and the melody itself is quite captivating. As if that is not enough to get your attention, Baekhyun's voice proved me wrong. His voice is just so soothing and it's enough to get you to drown yourself more into the song and the beautiful lyrics. The combination of his voice with D.O and Suho's are as perfect as a combination could ever be and I am serious. Chanyeol's rap towards the end completes the song and it remains as one of the (excuse me) heartbreaking part of the song because he sounds so beautiful to my ears, just so beautiful.
This song tells a story of a man trying his hardest to convince his love interest just how much of a waste crying for love is. Especially when it is for someone who had once hurt her so bad and took his chance to ruin her faith in love. In the process of doing so, he had fallen deeply in love with her and is currently struggling to tell her how much things could be better if she would stop crying and open her frightened self up to him and only him.
"Burn all the scars you've exchanged for that love."
"So you can remain so radiantly, burn me with that dagger instead."
"The moonbeam that brims up in your eyes, the night that silently overflows with pain."
Probably a little have noticed this but as he tries his hardest to convince her to not succumb to the pain, he himself is turning the dagger towards his own heart. Until she could see him and all his efforts, she remains blinded and he remains a shadow. Both are in great pain for all the wrong reasons. Her pain is reflected because of a past love while his pain is reflected as pure as tears are as he tries to convince a scarred soul to learn how to love again. Congratulations boys, it is a modern masterpiece.
