Block B returns after a very much anticipated news of them coming back into the scene with a new album and a new agency as well. After a rough ride which their leader, ZICO, who is also the producer of this album, had gone through and a series of events which had also affected the other members - they are now back with their latest title song "Very Good." The 7-member group is now under Seven Seasons, a relatively new entertainment agency amongst many in South Korea.
The music video for "Very Good" was released on October 1st, 2013. I have to admit, the boys look amazingly "good" in the video. It is as if they have not been inactive as suggested by the amount of confidence all of the members are exuding or does that have something to do with their latest concept? I believe they have always been a group with a strong bad-ass concept in which they have yet to fail in bringing the attitude to the table. Apart from the attitude, the outfits the boys were donning were so fashionable that they are going to leave fashionistas crying!
In the video, the boys are seen to be plotting a bank robbery which I have speculated is led by the leader, ZICO. The picking up of the last member into the black van indicates that they are once again moving from their comfortable normal lives and into the fast lane of being an infamous group slash notorious gang. As always, Jaehyo caught my attention with his slick look and that was all it took to keep my eyes glued to him, forgive me boys. The first line of the song goes "show time! making my first appearance among the cheers and excitement" - the marking of their official return thus confirming what I said earlier on. You can watch as the scene unfolds and I am not going to spoil it further for you. One thing I can conclude for sure is that these boys have never looked better.
The song, similar to their other songs, is also an upbeat one. It is a mixture of the rock and hip-hop genres which is right up in their alley. In my opinion, the lyrics are quite straight forward and the message they are trying to get across has successfully reached their targeted audience. Although it was not as catchy as "Nanrina" or "Nilili Mambo" but I find myself hitting the replay button subconsciously and it is what the boys do best, they hypnotise you!
Amidst all that joy and excitement for their latest comeback slash semi-debut with their new agency, Block B's latest concept is being compared to that of Big Bang's in general in which ZICO is claimed to be mimicking leader, G-Dragon's, very high taste in fashion and the boldness of the concept processing. Biased feelings aside, I do not see the resemblance which has caused such accusations. It is to my belief that Block B has always been bold and daring, their style has always been a question to many people and it is merely a coincidence that these two groups mirror each other. In any case, if there were two of these daring groups in the industry, they are only standing up for their music. The better one will win, right? Congratulations boys and good luck!
