Rumours have been circulating regarding KARA's disbandment which was triggered by the Japanese media earlier this year. DSP Media, the agency these girls are currently under, had denied the rumour initially. However, just recently DSP Media had revealed that KARA will be undergoing a few changes. They revealed that Nicole has refused to renew her contract and the youngest member, Jiyoung, is also considering to call it quits for academic reasons.
DSP Media revealed the sad news in an official press release earlier today, Friday, 4 October. They had revealed that the other three members, Gyuri, Seungyeon and Hara had successfully signed yet another 2-year individual contracts and had decided to continue their journey as established artists under DSP. Jiyoung's contract differ from the rest of her girls in which it will end effectively in April 2014 in order to give her some space to reconsider continuing her path as an artist or calling it quits to continue her studies.
They had explained to the press further how Nicole had completely refused to renew her contract for reasons we have yet to find out. DSP Media stated and I quoted, Nicole "has no intention to further her contract" and it is scheduled to be terminated in January 2014. This indicates clearly that Nicole has officially chosen to leave KARA for good by the time the year ends.
However, towards the end of the press release, DSP Media had also revealed that activities for KARA will not end here. They will continue to be a strong competitor in the Korean Entertainment Industry today with just the three of them standing. Let's wish the girls all the best. Good luck, girls!
