The extremely hot Troublemaker duo under CUBE Entertainment featuring 4minute's HyunA and BEAST's Hyunseung returns into the scene after almost 2 years of being in a hiatus. Completely throwing netizens off their seats, the duo had released ultimately sexy teaser photos (such as the one above) to signal their return earlier last month. We all know all too well what their concept is and to have these photos thrown at us - we somehow expected it, at least I did. What we did not expect was that the music video this time round will be released in two versions - the official MV and the Uncut Version of the MV. What stirred up so much excitement was the fact that both of the videos will be Rated 19+ according to South Korean standards. OK I'm paying attention!
The music video opens with what seemed to be a conflicted series of scenes and it goes back and forth between HyunA's and Hyunseung's in an attempt to show viewers the duo's separate lives. Hyunseung is seen to be in bed and sleeping with two prostitutes (which is supported by a later scene where he threw money at them) whilst HyunA is in the club somewhere (in the city) having the best time of her life - it is pretty clear how wasted these two are and this already depicts their attitudes individually. After a series of scenes which has shown their insecurities with the lives they are currently living, HyunA is seen to be 'returning' to Hyunseung and a make-out scene follows shortly after. From here onward, it is safe to speculate that they have strong feelings for each other and despite the obvious it being based on lust, there is also a much stronger feeling which tops it and it could actually be love. More scenes follow and most of it are in attempt to show the most disturbed individual of the two is Hyunseung - portrayed through a scene where he sees himself as the sadistic "Joker" in front the mirror. As the MV progresses, more heart-warming scenes of the two are revealed and thus it is safe to say that these two are indeed in love. The final scene shows two cars encircling the duo in the middle continuously which - to me at least - shows that they are trapped in their dysfunctional love affair and if one ever chooses to live, he or she will have to face death. It is quite deep and disturbing but I find it completely moving and amazing.
As if the video has not offered us enough evidence of this dysfunctional love, the song opens with an eerie melody and once you listen to it immediately you would feel a tad disturbed. At the same time though, after listening to it for at least 3 times, the opening has a sensual connotation to it which perfectly reflects the state of their love. The repetitive "Ooh ooh ooh" as the song opens and throughout the song gets you hooked real quick. The same goes to the line "tell me now, now, now" because as usual with Korean songs, you kind of always picked up the English phrases in the song. The best part of the song to me is when HyunA actually sings in the bridge of the song side by side with Hyunseung, paired with her improved rapping skills - I just felt like it should be one of the best comebacks of the year! Oh and of course, Hyunseung's vocals is always a winner. I hope they really do win the best duo at the end of the year because to be brutally honest, when it comes to sending a strong and sensitive message, whoever does it well I will immediately give my 'blessings.' See what I did there? No? OK.
So here's to the ultimate sexy duo that is Hyunseung and HyunA. Congratulations you two, I hope you will make it big someday!
